January 22, 2026

a yellow, back and silver Joro spider sits at the center of its web, with blue sky in the background. The image says PhotoVoices with the V from the word coinciding with the spider’s front two legs. To the bottom left, text in black says “an initiative from CENTER FOR INTEGRATIVE CONSERVATION RESEARCH & INTEGRATIVE CONSERVATION PHD PROGRAM, UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA”

Photovoice is a method that combines photography, reflection, and collective engagement. Through the ICON ‘PhotoVoices’ initiative, we engage with photovoice to learn from, and share with each other as a community. PhotoVoices was initiated in 2024, with the hope to engage with contemporary themes at the intersection of people and the environment. PhotoVoices 1.0 had its first physical exhibit in February 2025 at the Symposium for Integrative Conservation (SIC 2025). Learn more and see pictures from PhotoVoices 1.0 exhibitions.

The first exhibit for PhotoVoices 2.0 will be held in coordination with the 2026 Integrative Conservation Conference (ICC) on Feb 27-28. ICC is a biennial gathering organized by students from the Integrative Conservation PhD program (ICON) and the Center for Integrative Conservation Research (CICR). Multiple exhibits are planned over 2026, on the UGA campus, around town in Athens, and beyond! Download the PhotoVoices 2.0 brochure here.
