Wezddy Del Toro Orozco receives Engaged Scholar Award!

Congratulations to Wezddy Del Toro Orozco, Ph.D. candidate in the ICON and Forestry and Natural Resources Program, and a 2026 Engaged Scholar Awardee!

The Engaged Scholar Award is given annually by the Graduate School in collaboration with UGA Public Service and Outreach and the Office of Service-Learning, and “recognizes extraordinary, community-engaged scholarship and public service by graduate students, such as endeavors that advance the public service, outreach, and engagement mission at UGA.”

Del Toro Orozco’s doctoral research bridges ecology and social science, focusing on jaguar movement ecology and human–jaguar coexistence in Central Amazonia.
