Focus

I study rivers, streams, and fish in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Specifically, I am interested in how landscape characteristics, global climate change, and nonnative competitors influence the distribution of native fish populations. I’m also interested in how the scientific community and general public engage with one another to produce knowledge and better understand landscape and ecosystem functions. What factors influence native fish population distributions and can we refine science communication techniques to promote effective fish conservation strategies?
