Apply now to join the ICON PhD Program!

October 17, 2023

The UGA Integrative Conservation (ICON) PhD Program, which is coordinated by CICR, is now accepting applications for Fall 2024.

To apply to the program for Fall 2024, applicants apply through one of five ‘home’ departments (Anthropology, Geography, Ecology, Marine Sciences or Forestry and Natural Resources). Applications are due by December 1st.  In addition to departmental application requirements, applicants to the ICON program must provide a supplemental essay (more information about the application process can be found here).

The first step in developing an application is to identify a prospective faculty advisor, and we encourage applicants to maintain that communication. We depend on a prospective advisor’s willingness and enthusiasm for prospective students in the selection process. This page lists current students’ advisors and is a good place to start in terms of the faculty most closely affiliated with the ICON Program. Please note, any faculty member from the five contributing units can serve as an ICON student’s major advisor.

Please contact iconphd@uga.edu for more information about the application and admissions process.
